The ECDL Foundation Forum 2016 took place last 26 and 27 May 2016 in Budapest, Hungary at the Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest. The event gathers representatives from the ECDL / ICDL operations around the world with the idea of sharing experiences and latest projects and plan the following year activities.
As every year, the goal of the Best Practice Awards is to acknowledge initiatives and projects which are considered to be successful examples of best practice in the implementation of ECDL / ICDL. The Best Practice Awards show key lessons that can be learnt by sharing the experience of the different successful and innovative ways in which the certification can be promoted and implemented.
ICDL Colombia was awarded the ECDL / ICDL in the Workplace category Best Practice Award with the project “Trainers Ready for Digital Transformation: ICDL Certification of 1,000 Trainers at SENA Workforce Training Centre”.
The Colombian National Service of Education (SENA), is an official public educational institution, which belongs to the Colombian government and is under the supervision of the Ministry of Labour. Its objective is to offer high quality technical education, free of charge, for all Colombians. In 2014, SENA reached 5 million learners. SENA National School of Instructors started a process to certify 1,000 instructors to ICDL standards in order to ensure that all the instructors under the SENA training centre, regardless of the subject they teach, would be able to impact their learners positively by using ICT. This is really important as SENA is responsible for defining the workforce competence framework and also leads the technical and training processes for the labour market all over the country.
“This certification will allow the instructors to be internationally qualified for a global teaching performance”
Carlos Martínez, SENA Training Centre Coordinator
We congratulate ICDL Colombia and SENA on this achievement.
