15 inmates of the District Prison of Bogota had the privilege of developing their teleworking skills to an international standard, in a project started and led by the Ministry of ICT, the Ministry of Labour, and the Mayor of Bogota, and supported by ICDL Colombia.
The pilot project began two months ago in the District Prison for Men and Women and hopes to develop the participants’ skills and enable them to generate an income through teleworking, even though they are deprived of their freedom.
ICDL Colombia participated in the project, assuring the international standards of the ICDL digital skills certification programme, providing the diagnostic tests, access to the training content and the international certification tests.
The participants are already sitting their ICDL tests and developing their ICDL Profile. Those who obtain the international certification will have access to job opportunities through teleworking that will give them more chances to get a job, once they are released from prison.
